For a start, you have a whole property, with all the amenities, not just one room, a kettle, and a small TV.
Yes, it is nice to have breakfast prepared for you, but you still have to eat it at a set time, that may not suit you. In fact, at Marsh View Cottage, we spoil our guests to the extent of having some breakfast ingredients waiting for them when they arrive [as well as other treats!] Our guests have everything they need for their first breakfast. We provide freshly made croissants,a supply of tea and coffee, locally produced apple juice, milk, bread, butter, eggs and a selection of jams and marmalades, which are especially made for us.
Self catering offers the options of cooking your own meals in a fully equipped kitchen, phoning for a takeaway to be delivered, and many self catering properties also provide a barbecue. At Marsh View Cottage, our guests can have a busy day exploring, or playing on the beach, then come back to a cosy, comfortable, home from home and relax on the decking soaking up the views across the SSSI protected marshes, watching the sheep wander past or see how many varieties of bird and other wildlife you can spot. Our gas barbecue, and garden table, chairs, and parasol are all available for use and can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own private, fully enclosed, secluded garden.
In the lounge we have a TV/DVD player and a selection of good DVD's, for those wet days or evenings in. A selection of books and games is further provided.
So when you next want a break away, consider self catering. Many owners offer short breaks too, and our weekends are always booked. Our guests leaving on a Sunday, even benefit from a later departure time, of up to 6pm [usually 10am]. I don't think I know any hotels who allow that!
