Camber Sands beach
Our Camber Sands holiday home is a short stroll to this amazing beach. The beach is several miles long, and much of this is a glorious sandy beach. The shingle end is further along to the east.
The beach is usually accessed via the magnificent sand dunes - the only sand dunes in East Sussex. They provide a natural habitat to many plants and birds and are of scientific importance. They also help protect the village of Camber from flooding from the sea. The dunes are high and may not be suitable for everyone to climb across. The only flat access is via the car park to the east [not the main grassed car park opposite The Gallivant] and this is reached via Old Lydd Road by car or on foot.[Please note that dogs are not allowed to access the beach from the flat car park between May and September inclusive, when dogs are only allowed on a certain stretch of the beach accessed via the dunes.]
The stretch of beach nearest our Camber Sands holiday cottage is glorious sand! The beach is at its very best at low tide when the sea retreats for over half a mile, leaving behind a vast beach and little pools of sea water which are great for the smallest children to play in.There is a tide timetable in the leaflets basket inside Marsh View Cottage (temprarily removed in accordancewith guidelines, during the COVID-19 pandemic), but you can also download a tide timetables app. to a smart phone or check here for tide times or Camber Sands tide times

Camber Sands is popular all year round. We have guests staying throughout the autumn and winter months too. There is something very special and relaxing about walking on this beach in the off peak season just as much as in the spring and summer. The beach is often deserted then and what could be better than walking along the waters edge before returning to our warm and cosy cottage? For more information on Camber Sands beach, please visit our blog. The autumn and winter months often have some spectacular sunsets.
