About us
We are Tony & Sue, the owners of Marsh View Cottage, a popular, well equipped holiday cottage in Camber Sands, Rye, East Sussex.
We bought Marsh View Cottage in 2011. We had always wanted to own and manage a holiday home and had been looking around for some time. Then we discovered homes being built in Camber Sands, just outside Rye. We fell in love with the idea and were able to choose from a small selection still being built, and we settled on Marsh View Cottage because of the lovely views right behind it. The marsh behind us is part of Romney Marsh, but the section immediately behind is SSSI protected [Site of Special Scientific Interest] and is a haven for wildlife, much of it protected.
We love the whole area - we are totally in love with Rye too - how could you not fall in love with those cobbled streets and the history those ancient buildings hold?
Who could not feel relaxed walking on that vast sandy beach?

We had known the area for many years and when our three children were small we were regular visitors to Camber Sands [pictured above left and middle about 1990!] Now our little grandchildren love it too!
On the right of the photos above is Sue at nearby Dungeness. Dungeness is also known as ''The Fifth Continent''. We can't think of anywhere else quite like it.It is bleak, strange, eerie, yet has its own unique beauty too. The beach is scattered with abandoned fishing boats and fishermen's huts which add to the sheer eeriness of it.

We enjoy self catering holidays ourselves. We know exactly what we like to expect, and we can be quite critical too! That is why we wanted to make Marsh View Cottage special, a place that feels like home and had something to offer that most other holiday homes in the area still don't.
When we began, back in 2011, our easiest option would be to hand the bookings over to an agent so that we could relax. That isn't our style. We much prefer to be hands on owners and manage all enquiries, bookings etc ourselves. We think our guests prefer it too.
